Can You Dig Hunger Games ..

10. Star Wars IV: A New Hope

A very long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away ...

Luke Skywalker, farmhand and son of Darth Vader, is torn from his home when his aunt and uncle are murdered by Imperial Storm Troopers looking for the stolen strategies to the Death Star, a space station with weaponry capable of ruining planets. Luke escapes with his two droids, Jedi Knight Obi Wan Kenobi, smuggler Han Solo and first mate Chewbacca.

After escaping Tatooine, the ragtag team stumble upon the Death Star soon after it has ruined the planet Alderaan. Caught by its tractor beam, their ship is dragged in. While attempting to escape the Death Star the group rescue Princess Leia, held prisoner in the ships bowels. Throughout the rescue Obi Wan sacrifices himself to allow the others to escape.

In a splendid finale, Luke destroys the Death Star by firing a missile into a weak point in the framework of the ship and Darth Vader, is cannoned off into the depths of space.

9. Pulp Fiction

A movie whose numerous plotlines are far too intertwined to summarise in a paragraph or 2, Pulp Fiction merely tells the tale of a day in the life of a group of uncommon individuals-- two hitmen, the spouse of a gangster, and a boxer who killed in the ring among others.

Edited to link each story together, the movie commonly plays from sequence-- to the point where the last scene and the opening scene occur at the same time. Full of popular culture references and quotable lines, Pulp Fiction remains true to form as a Tarantino movie.

8. The Great, the Bad and the Ugly

Set during the US Civil War, the movie follows the 3 protagonists Blondie (The Great), Snake Eyes (The Bad) and Tuco (The Ugly) in their search of a hoard of gold stolen by bank robber Expense Carson. All three desire 50 % of the gold-- resulting in a good old-fashioned standoff. Snake Eyes is shot dead, and the honorable Blondie permits Tuco his share of the booty.

Trivia: Clint Eastwood wore the very same poncho for all 3 'Man With No Name' movies-- without washing it when.

7. Schindler's Listing

Schindler's Listing informs the true story of Oscar Schindler, a Nazi industrialist who comes to be so moved by the plight of the Jewish people throughout World War II that he devotes himself to saving as many as he can. Also after recovering over 1,100 Jews from the gas chamber, Schindler bemoans the reality that he might have conserved more had he compromised every thing he had.

6. The Seven Samurai

Considereded Akira Kurosawa's best movie, the Seven Samurai tells the tale of a terrorised village in war-torn 16th Century Japan. Constantly attacked by groups of bandits, the homeowners get the services of seven ronin, or samurai without masters, to shield them.

In spite of initial tensions between the villagers and the samurai, they together effectively defend the community against the bandits. However, their success comes at the price of the lives of 4 samurai.
