After so many years of working at pizzerias, I wanted to bring that experience home. The smells, the flavors, the tastes, I wanted that from my kitchen. The good news is it is possible. Making delicious pizza at home and making your family smile is possible. But there are a few things that you need to do in order to make the best homemade pizza. So let's talk about what I think those things are.

The first thing I suggest is making your dough from scratch. Whether you choose to use sourdough or white or thick or thin, making the dough from scratch is what separates good pizza from bad pizza. It isn't that difficult to do, so you really should consider it. There are plenty of easy pizza dough recipes available online, so try them out. The crust is the foundation of any good pizza.

Next up is the sauce. This too you want to make from scratch. Don't use something out of a can. Also, pizza sauce is different than spaghetti sauce. Try some fresh oregano and garlic to give it a great kick.

Now let's discuss the cheese. The cheese should be a mixture of three cheeses: mozzarella (of course), jack and provolone. This allows the cheese to pull apart when you grab a slice. Also, try adding some Parmesan sprinkled on top before it goes in the oven. It really adds to the flavor!

As far as toppings go, make sure they are the freshest you can find. This will truly make your pizza stand out. You can get pepperoni slices at the deli counter in your supermarket and it is so much fresher.
